The dominant element is a piece of actual rock from the bottom of the Grand Canyon — flat-faced, sedimentary-layered, grey and tan and cream — you can see the geological strata in its face, millions of years of Earth compressed and visible. This rock was at the bottom of one of the world’s great wonders. Now it is here, sealed in gold, permanent. To its right, a beautiful banded agate slice in warm brown, cream, and rust — the canyon’s own palette, its own layered story in mineral form.
